(Tbh I am not a fan of the localized title for this show – I think “Cleanliness Boy! Aoyama-kun” is way better! The Japanese title, for those searching for it, is “Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun”~)

This is a comedic sports anime about a mysophobic character, and the incredibly weird characters all around him. Although it’s mostly jokey, I do appreciate that they spend some conversation in the first episode to make it clear that his fixation is a highly inhibiting disability, and how difficult it is that he has to work around it!

Though there is some cool soccer action in this series, there are all kinds of other hijinks going on, and sometimes it seems that Aoyama-kun isn’t even the central character, only showing up and doing something amazing when it’s important, lol!

Also enjoy the super retro thowback-style credits sequence LOL.

Personally, I find season 2 the more exciting of the two anyway~ The new character, Ageha (who is voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki 8O!!), adds some excitement and interest with his mysterious, obsessive motivations~

Aside from Ageha, my fave character in this series is the adorable Nayuki~ He is so sweet!

And, y’all, for real, the final episode wraps up with an engagement metaphor, I’m not even kidding.

This is… a CRAZY show.  This is one of the more heavily comedic idol shows out there, with some very silly plot points that the characters address.  I love it, though – especially the colorful character designs and the really great credits sequences for each of the songs!!  They also have very exaggerated personalities, with like, one interest that seems to get squeezed into every conversation LOL.  I can appreciate the simplicity, though!  Things get more exciting and dramatic by the end, of course!

R is my fave, for how innocent and cute he is, and for his MMO fixation where he sprinkles RPG terms in his vocabulary. <3

One of my fave idol boy series!!!  They wear some silly stage costumes at times and sometimes the CG dancing is a little awkward, but overall it’s worth braving through those for the really cool songs!!  And outside of their time on the stage, I LOVE the ratio of fun to drama in this show.  There is the perfect measurement of good times and friendship contrasted with conflict and emotional bonding~

Something of interest about these episodes… pay attention to the number of exclamation points in some of the episode titles, and the number of idol unit members involved in the featured group. 😊
