Be Ever Elegant with these Lovely Parasols

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

Protect yourself from the sun on your leisurely strolls, and feel like a princess while doing so!

These parasols from Lumiebre are gorgeous enough for ladies of any preference, as the selection encompasses both the Sweet and Gothic spectra of Lolita fashion.

Lune Parasol

Lune is a dark and dramatic parasol design, depicting a Victorian mansion in silhouette.

The fringe hanging all around is the perfect Gothic finishing touch!

Rose Due Parasol

If a more Classical approach is your preferred look, this one is perfect!

It’s easy to miss in the tiny photo, but there is a scrolling floral jacquard print on this parasol. That neutral, rosy shade of pink just speaks of elegance and class to me.

Rose Drop Parasol

Another of the more Gothic or Classic parasol designs. The rose pattern is arranged in vertical rows, and I love the extra arch of ruffles along the edge.

Picolore Parasol

And finally, some sweeter colors! Picolore is available in such dainty, soft shades. The pink one even has the scrolling design and lace in white, to look extra girly. ♥

I may be unfairly biased. I LOVE pink and white together.

Petit Merry Parasol

And the very Sweetest of them all, Petit Merry. The border design on this one depicts a princess’ carriage led by carousel horses. The detail is beautiful! You must view it larger.

And of course, I love love LOVE the pastel colors it’s available in. ♥

Wigs for Cosplay and Every Day

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Zephyr1 is a wig shop on Rakuten that sells hairpieces in bright fantastic colors as well as for every day.

Wigs have made their prevalence known in Lolita fashion – when was the last time you saw a photoshoot that didn’t include perfectly-curled pastel pigtails? And it’s not that natural colors are an oddity either. Cascading hair extensions are almost essential to Himegyaru style. And what’s more, Zephyr1’s selection of wigs are available in enough colors and basic styles that you’re sure to be able to find one that you can style to match a favorite character you choose to cosplay.

Of course, even if you don’t follow any of these street styles, wigs are great for just giving you a new everyday look to try out without fear of dying or cutting your hair. They’re really not such an oddity nowadays!

So let’s check out a few of them!

Long Wavy Wine Red Wig

Here’s a good start for this post – this wine red color is romantic and just-natural-enough that you could get away with wearing it with any everyday outfit. 😀

The length and waviness of it is great, too! c:

Straight Shaggy Rose Pink Wig

This is suuuuch a great rosy color~ ; 3; Usually I’m all about pastel princess pink, but this shade is more neutral and would work with more outfits, I think!

I wanna put a BIG OL’ BOW in it!!

Short Tussled Lavender Wig

This style is just REALLY fun!!

Lavender is always such a sweet color, but this style makes it wild!

Long Wavy Gold Wig

One more natural color to even this post out! And that’s quite a gorgeous gold.

The soft curls would fall so prettily over your shoulders~ o^o I really just love this wig a whole lot.

Long Straight Glass Green Wig

Ohmygosh that shade of green is SOOOOOO GOOD wow!!

Soft pastels just work so great in the fashion styles that I love the best… but green is a color that often gets left out amidst all of the pink and baby blue and lavender.

I really am seriously pining away for this color, and dreaming up ways to incorporate it into outfits. It would add a very different kind of “naturalness,” haha!

Betsey Johnson Bags

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

Betsey Johnson is a big-name designer that I just adore! Her designs cater to those a little outside of the mainstream, and would fit perfectly in the arms of one who follows Japanese street fashions.

Today’s highlighted Betsey Johnson products will be purses and bags!

QUILTED LOVE HEART WRISTLETBRIGHT pink, wow!! I love anything with hearts. And bows.

So this little handbag is a winner!!

There are a few other colors available as well. n_n

BETSEYS BOUQUET XBODY BAGThis blingy design definitely reminds me of Hime or Ageha looks and would be FABYOOLUSS with any of those formal dresses I posted a few days ago.

Basically just slap a big bow on anything and I’ll love it.

TEA PARTY FRAME XBODY BAGIT’S PINK AND THERE ARE BOWS ON IT.
LOVE FOLDS FRAMEDesigns like this that are simultaneously elegant and cute are the reason I went ahead and categorized this post under Lolita as well.

This is the sort of bag a princess would carry around on her night out on the town.

FLORAL WRISTLETAnd here’s a sweet piece to round off the end of this post with. Black looks good with everything and a floral design will keep you look girly and elegant.

The lacy-ish design in the corners is what really won me over, though!

Betsey Johnson’s stuff may be leagues out of my price range, but that doesn’t mean I can’t admire them from afar!

And that’s just what I’ll do.

Probably forever.

Princess Training: The First Steps

August 28, 2011

I’m so happy! 😀 A few months ago, I treated myself to my first Lolita purchase. <3  As I waited, I sewed my first garments to go along with it. <3  And now, finally, I’m taking the first little baby steps toward living my princessy life~

‘Scuse me while I block out my messy room with crayon hearts. XD ((Brush credit goes to Colors Everywhere by Ronjark.))
I tried to make the outfit replicate the gif I made those months ago:

Do you think I succeeded? XD  (Don’t answer that lul.  The color is off and I exaggerated the poof in the drawing. <3)

I’m still in the process of wrapping my head around the fact that this is mine. ;~; I feel like I am just looking at someone else’s photos on the Internet. If this were Tumblr I would like the pic and just keep scrolling, pining away in my heart for those clothes to someday be mine. But they ARE mine! oAo THIS IS AMAZING.

Let’s show some details of the outfit from head to toe~

My tiara from Claire’s and huge flowery headband from Charlotte Russe are tough to wear at the same time. XD
Here’s the super pretty details at the neckline:

That picture didn’t really need hearts but I put them there anyway. XD
The lower half:

I am pleased with the poof my petticoat is providing, but I am blown away by the potential volume of this skirt!! I am definitely making a second petticoat out of twice the material I used the first time. More layers and more ruffles, I say! MORE! There’s plenty of room under this skirt, let’s fill it up! 8U

Can I talk about how in love I am with these socks? I know that silly colorful ponies don’t exactly coordinate with the more elegant dress, but I just fell in love with the fantasy pony theme of these socks and couldn’t not get them. Also these are officially the whitest socks that I own and I’m terrified of wearing them casually because they are doomed to turn dingy grey just like all of my other once-white socks. ;A;

As for the shoes – I’m sure I measured my feet accurately, and correctly converted the measurement into centimeters, but they are really big on me! There is a lot of space between the criss-crossing straps and the top of my foot. Oh, they’re not so big that they’re impossible or uncomfortable to wear. I’m going to put some arch supports or something in them to fill up the empty space a bit as well as simultaneously put some cushioning in there. n_n I’m actually glad for the extra room because it means I can wear thicker socks, or layer stockings + socks when it’s cold in the Winter.

Adorable shoes like these are what I always think of as one of the important staples of Sweet Lolita fashion, and like the outfit as a whole I still can’t believe that I actually own something this cute!! oAo My mind is totally blown!

I attempted that perspective shot that everyone else seems to do. XD How do you guys manage to do those without falling over?! There is so much poof in the way you can’t even see your feet without bending way over. oAo (Lol I <3 my throw rug.)

I thought I was done taking pictures, but then I sat down at my laptop and my skirt tried to eat the keyboard, which left me giggling so much I snapped a shot of that, too:

(Didn’t even notice Vivi was in this shot until I was editing it on my computer. XD)

I pretty much spent the whole day marveling at the ruffles and the poof and the omg. Sitting down with the skirt out around you… It’s like miles and miles of ruffles stretching out forever and ever on all sides.

This must be what happiness looks like. <3

Princess Training: Foundations

August 12, 2011

There were some delays, but my princess dress is scheduled to arrive within the next week! It actually totally coincidentally just happened to coincide with my birthday! 😀

I had to hurry up and finish these projects I had lying around!

No self-respecting Lolita coordinate is finished (or started, for that matter) without the very important…

…bloomers! XD

These I was very good about not procrastinating on. I actually finished them in only a couple of days, not long after placing my dress purchase.

I LOVE how they turned out. White fabric with pink polka dots = omg perfection. Add pink chiffon ruffles and little pink bows and you’ve just taken several steps beyond perfection. The bows are actually detachable – they have brooch pins on the back – and the main reason I stuck them on there was so I could tell which side was the front! XD

I followed the pattern with virtually no changes from Simplicity 3618. Here, I’ll include a link so you can check it out for yourself. 😀

Cute costumes. XD; The bloomers are short, but I like them that way since it makes them more versatile. I’ve already worn them under some skirts I own, and they are SO comfortable. Plus, I’ve never liked just wearing skirts with nothing underneath, especially concerning the length most skirts are available in nowadays. My self consciousness virtually evaporates when I wear these, since I no longer have to worry about modesty and can just enjoy wearing a cute skirt. c:

Okay! Moving right along to the project-I-totally-procrastinated-on-for-two-months-and-only-finally-finished-yesterday!

A petticoat! Absolutely necessary for that perfect princess poof. I didn’t use a pattern for this at all, only using information I’ve garnered from dozens and dozens of petticoat tutorials I’ve read online. I definitely made some mistakes, but I know exactly what to do next time to make an even better petticoat.

This provides some substantial poof, but the next one I’ll make will have twice as much material and ruffles. 8D Just because that’s what Lolita is all about!

All right, that’s about enough of my gushing over my sewing projects. n_n I am just really proud of them, since I’ve never sewn garments before these, and I love how they turned out! AND NEXT WEEK MY DRESS AND SHOES AND SOCKS ARE GETTING HERE YOU GUYS OMG 8D 8D 8D

Update: Okay so it wasn’t exactly the next week lol but here’s Princess Training: The First Steps. c:
